Resources

One way to feel calm, inspired, brave, and continue to grow spiritually, is to surround yourself with positive and thought-provoking information, messages, mantras, and people.

Additionally, we highly recommend creating your own “Spirit Posse” or spiritual group to surround yourself with supportive people to share ideas and evolve together—it can make all the difference in the world.

We have been fortunate enough to enjoy a wide variety of books on spirituality. The books listed below have inspired us, calmed us, and—most importantly—taught us so many lessons to help us see the world and others in a more compassionate light.

For some, audio books are a more convenient option—we recommend listening to them while getting ready in the morning, driving, cooking, taking walks, etc.

We have been forever changed and are eternally grateful for the books that have influenced our spiritual journeys.

Ted Talks have broadened our horizons, shifted our perspectives, exposed us to new ideas, and helped us to see ourselves in another. They cover a wide variety of topics, stir curiosity, and—as their slogan says—have “ideas worth spreading.”

The simple act of repeating positive mantras can be life changing. It shifts our mindset and energy to be more positive and inspired. Sometimes, we also rely on our own mantras that address our own specific emotions and issues.

Where would you have me go?
What would you have me do?
What would you have me say, and to whom?
A Course in Miracles

“I will be ok, no matter what happens today…”
—Kim’s mantra

Surrounding ourselves with inspirational quotes has been instrumental to our spiritual growth and has helped us live peaceful, courageous, and joy-filled lives. These motivating ideas directly affect our inner dialogue—which is the single most important conversation we have on any given day.

“I am not afraid…I was born to do this.”
—Joan of Arc
“When you know better, you do better.”
—Maya Angelou
“Everyone will be to you, what you choose to be to them.”
–Marianne Williamson
“When given the choice between being right or kind, always choose kind.”
–Wayne Dyer
“The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
–Apple’s “Think Different” Campaign

Call it meditation, call it sitting still, call it mindfulness, or call it being calm.  Whatever you call it, whoever you are, you need it.

Meditations have had a powerful effect on us. First and foremost, they have taught us to pause.

Pause, listen, quit running around, put down your “to do” list, and consider your inner guidance and wisdom. We particularly love meditations that have questions at the end—since you can date them and look back to see the evolution of your progress.

Below, are a few of our favorites:

  • Oprah & Deepak Chopra – Desire & Destiny 21 Day Meditation
  • Oprah & Deepak Chopra – Finding Your Flow 21 Day Meditation
  • Peloton Guided Meditations with Kirra Michel
  • Gabby (Gabrielle) Bernstein Guided Meditations
  • Sonia Choquette Guided Meditations
